The elation with which a man in perfect physical condition enters a race, under takes a contest, which means straining every muscle, using every atom of physical energy, may and ought to be felt in undertaking a life work. It is, in itself, the secret of success, for the burden that is borne with buoyancy and joy in the effort loses half its weight. The tragedy of many lives is not in the difficulty of the work that is put upon them, but in the fact that their own lack of fitness, or the character of the work itself, makes impossible this keen delight in achievement.
