I love erotic historical romance but the pickings have been getting pretty slim. Jess Michaels was good but she no longer writes this sub-genre. Sarah McCarty is hit or miss (basically "icked" my way through the Hell's Eight series so far) and finding the oddball stand-alone (i.e. Passion) is a rarity. Then recently I discovered Julia Templeton and all is, once again, right with my literary world. She doesn't weigh her stories down with endless pages of description; instead, she focuses on great...
Reviewed for queuemyreview.com; book release Aug08Chivalrous knights and braw Highlanders…both are enough to have women sighing. Put them together in the same story and the book will likely sell itself! Stir in a liberal helping of erotica and you have the recipe for “The Conquest” by Julia Templeton. This is her second erotic historical set in Scotland during the Middle Ages. I suspect it will be at least as popular as her first one, “The Bargain” since it features characters she introduced in
lmaoooo was there even an attemptI'm not going to pretend The Bargain was award-worthy literature, but that at least had some semblance of a plot and character development. This just seemed like the author had been told to write a sequel, had no interest in doing it, and decided to phone it in. Like, I'm pretty sure Adelstan, the main character of this book, was more three-dimensional in the first book where he was a side character! Do we learn anything about him in The Conquest, other than that...
Great book, fun to read. Quickly captured my attention from the very beginning and didn't let go Being an Erotic Historical Romance it is full of hot, steamy passion, sex and sexuality. I would recommend this book to anyone who, like me, believes the hotter the better when it comes to the passion/romance.
Glad I Finally Read ThisI read the first book (The Bargain) in the series a week or so ago and I put off reading this book thinking it might have similarities in plot with the first book. I was pleasantly surprised by how this book captivated me from start to finish. I liked the plot and the characters. I am glad the plot did not revolve around the misunderstandings and poor decisions brought about by A dark, tortured past. We have a heroine betrothed to the villain and the hero who set out to d...
Hmm I liked it, though for a while, it seemed like there would be no sex (it was listed under erotica). It seemed basically just to be lust that's how they fell for each other but it still somehow seemed believable. In addition, the ending was so anticlimatic and just I couldn't believe it. At the last few pages, I was thinking to myself how is this going to end so soon? Both main character seemed absolutely gorgeous, and I guess Jorden was bi?
Love this book! So many funny moments. The author does a great job building up the tension so that finally when the two come together there is a euphoric release, like the world is now righted, everything is in its place and how it should be. This is definitely a must read!
Nice book. Easy read. Repetitive in places but not bad
This story was alright though the first book, "The Bargain" was much better. I'm not a big fan of love at first sight stories, but I hate it especially when the only thing the person as to say about the other one is how beautiful they are, I must have her... to me that is and will always be totally based on lust... but what I really didn't care for was that even as the story goes, there still wasn't anything that I could tell that would make Rhiannon someone you would fall in love with right awa...
3 stars. I have read other Julia Templeton books before and I have liked most of them. So, I was not surprised that I liked this one. This book sees Riahnnon a Lairds daughter who had been promised for marriage to someone she did not even know and was chosen by her father. She is to be scorted to her bethroted by the handsome knight Adelstan Cawdor. Just as this stories generally go, they are both smitten and almost upon each other as soon as they meet. Adelstan soon has to decide if he values c...
Good Until the EndThis book had me hot throughout. I loved the attraction between the two characters and the several chapters of flirting and struggle. I even enjoyed the few extra glimpses we get into the maid's multiple relationships. However, the end was a fast, sudden, and disappointing. I expected there to be more danger, like a threat of poisoning from the jealous lover of Rhiannon's betrothed. But to have it build up in drunken rage in a few short chapters...I was more worried for the life...
A very gripping story filled with beautifully described characters and plenty of steamy moments. I'm not a historical romance fan in general but Julian Templeton made a slam dunk when it came to writing a story that made me not want to put the story down. With plenty of detail to create a perfect picture in my head of what each character looks like and how the world looks through their eyes, I will no doubt return to this book for more.It took me a bit to adjust to the old fashioned way they spok...
When I picked this up in the sales bin at Borders I thought it was a regular romance novel. I did not realize it was an erotic historical romance, which was a genre of romance I had never heard of. In short, this was pure hotness. The plot was predictable, but the characters were fun and it was all very hot and enjoyable without too much cheese involved. I was actually surprised at the character and plot development and how the sex scenes were used as a development of the character relationships...
Very steamy and hot. First erotic historical I ever read. Though after a while the sex scenes seemed a bit much when it came to frequency, but I'm sure it was just my lack of experience reading an erotic historical. I am used to historicals with more plot depth without an emphasis on the sex. That being said, I loved the hero. He was alpha from the word go and Julia Templeton had a way of describing him so vividly! Loved that!Would recommend this book to anyone.
My first novel with Julia Templeton and I loved the story. Romantika(Romance and Erotica) was excellent. I seem to enjoy this genre more in a historical scene. This book is set in Medieval Scotland during the reign on King William. Rhiannon is charming and likeable as all the characters especially her nurse Elspeth.
The second book in The Bargain series by Julie Templeton. Okay, if I'd been looking for erotica without a plot then this would have fit the bill. But I was really hoping for a story/plot. The synopsis sounded intriguing but sadly it did nothing for me. I give it 2 stars for the fact I did finish it.
Cała seria nie jest najlepszym dziełem autorki. Ta książka była spójna i dobrze się ją czytało, ale zakończenie jest bardzo przyśpieszone. Szast prast i wszystkie problemy znikają. Liczyłam na więcej komplikacji. Ogólnie można przeczytać, ale są lepsze książki tej autorki.
Started out as a wonderful medieval tale with the brother from The Bargain; however, didn't follow through as it started sounding more modern.
A page flipping book that takes you in a world that was... Filled with love, passion, hatred, desire, and honor. This is sure to take you in the past and let you experience a choice between honor and love, where honor was everything.
Very intriguing so far. Wanted a smutty romance book, and when you get sex in the first chapter, you know you've struck gold!
Menage scene did not involve the H/h.
I read this story a while back, and now I can't remember anything about it. In similar cases, I've found this happens because the book wasn't good enough or bad enough to remember. Just ok.
Absolutely delicious romance novel! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for something to warm up those lonely cold winter nights!!
lots of good, hot sex!
I liked it well enough. There was quite a bit of smut, and it was just what I expected. I'm going to let Danielle borrow it now. :)
