Weird Tales #1 would have been a 5 star issue. But out of the four tales two are excellent and two are garbage. Let us begin-Big Top Hellboy- story and art by John Cassaday. 5/5. A superb short story and beautifully drawn as well. Hellboy goes to investigate a haunted Circus. A shame the rest of the series isn't of similiar quality.Party Pooper- Story and art Andi Watson. This is an awfully drawn, cream-puff of a story. Almost as if something from Disney Kids had made it on to the pages of Hellb...

This is other artists and writers working with Mignola's characters. Seeing the familiar characters in other artistic styles is interesting, but the stories don't go as deep and some of the characterizations seem off. That was probably inevitable.
