I Became a Teacher Because...

I Became a Teacher Because...

When I would tell people that I was a teacher, I would get a response that went something like " Boy, are you lucky. You get to sit in a chair all day with your feet on the desk, drink coffee, and just watch little kids work. And for that you get a big old paycheck." My answer to this question was always the Where is this imaginary school and where can I get an application?" Trust me the real job of teaching is nothing like that. If you only had to watch the children work each day, that would be great. But there is so much more to the job. Top on the list is discipline. You have to be fast. You have to be able to determine who is telling the truth. You have to decide on a punishment that is appropriate for things such as the Girl drama Fights Bullying Name calling Condoms in the bathroom Playboy magazines Note passing And so much more like teaching and grading papers. Why do teachers get summer's off? It's recovery time! This book will tell you what teachers really do. Mostly from a humorous point of view. In my twenty seven years in the classroom, I have seen it all. So open the school door, grab a desk, and get ready for the roller coaster ride that is the real world of teaching!
