The Story of Rania is one of the countless stories that are never shared or told. It is tragic, heartbreaking, infuriating and eye-opening. The Story of Rania is not singular, is just one of thousands of similar stories that never see the light of justice or redemption. It is the experience countless families have gone through, sacrificing a daughter, a wife, a friend in order to have the possibility to risk their lives in the journey towards Europe.
When people talk about refugees, about Middle Eastern migrants all they know and see are the images of people forcing the borders, or of people living in tents or even they fear a risk to their way of living and their society, they see refugees as potential terrorists that their government invited or accepted inside their country.
So few of us listen, watch and see the humane side, the hidden side of the story. Who knows and sees the black market of prostitution, of human trafficking, of illegal organ black market, the mutilations, the humiliations, the terror, the unknown dead on their way towards Europe? Who watches over these people and provides the minimum protection we all deserve of humans?
Because there was no voice telling these stories we became a voice and wrote it for the whole world to know it.
