“Restored Mural for Orlando” is a chapbook by the queer Latinx poet, Roy Guzmán, in response to the mass shooting at Latin Night at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
The chapbook was created with the intention to raise funds to help the direct victims of this tragedy and to support Pridelines, a youth organization in Miami that provided Guzmán with the crucial space to figure out his queer identity when he was a teenager.
The poem was originally published in Public Pool, republished on NPR’s Latino USA, and inspired a piece in the L.A. Times.
The queer Latinx poet Marco Antonio Huerta translated the poem and chapbook into Spanish. Queer poet and visual artist D Allen created art pieces responding to the poem and translation, in addition to designing the chapbook.
