Excerpt from Descendants of Hopestill Foster of Dorchester, Mass;, Son of Richard Foster of Biddenden, Co; Kent, and His Wife Patience Biggs , The Immigrant in 1635

Though considerable has been written about Capt. Hopestill Foster. Much was incorrect, and I must confess to have been one of the blunderers. This is especially in regard to the idea that his father came to New Eng land.

The true record begins with the fact that on 17 April 1635, there em barked on the Elizabeth, of which William Stagg was master.
