I remember reading this book as a child when I was about 6 and wanted to re-enact the story so I had a surprise party for my mother lol. I was learning how to read and this book helped me get there. The illustrations are old fashioned but I like them. One of many find memories from my childhood. I didn’t know until recently that this booked was written by Paul Newman.
Sweet story of two kids setting up a surprise birthday party for their mother. The illustrations are old-fashioned and charming (even if the girl on the cover looks a little demonic with her crazy-eyes).
