The Truth about Speaking in Tongues: An Examination of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Doctrine and Experience

The Truth about Speaking in Tongues: An Examination of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Doctrine and Experience

Norman L. Geisler
0/5 ( ratings)
In this well-researched and scholarly book, James O’Loughlin tests the claims of the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements. He lovingly examines the history of the tongues movement and answers the critical questions: What is the gift of tongues in the Bible? What is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit? Is tongues a private prayer language? How does one receive the Holy Spirit? Is speaking in tongues an essential part of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the “full” gospel? And many more! Every Christian that has struggled with this issue will finally learn what the Bible really teaches regarding the often divisive topic of the Gift of Tongues.

About the Author James O’Loughlin:

During his days at Rhema Bible College, James O’Loughlin believed what he was taught by his professors. In the course of his studies he began to test the things he was being taught by the Word of God. This brought up many questions that lingered for years. These questions eventually led him to study apologetics under Christian apologist Dr. Norman Geisler. After James earned his Master’s Degree in Apologetics, he turned all of his research and writing into this book. He knew that his struggle with the issue of speaking in tongues would be a benefit to others that wrestled with the very same issues. Open-minded readers will appreciate the kind and reasonable manner in which James wrote this in-depth and insightful volume.

What others are saying:

“Having studied this subject myself for over a half century, I have not found a more thorough, biblical, and rational approach to the topic than is found in this book.” – Dr. Norman Geisler
