An anthology is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you're gonna get. I was intrigued by the word anti-realist, and truth be told, I'm still unsure about that genre. What exactly does it entail? I liked Mian Zi most.
sometimes i wonder if the label ‘anti-realist fiction’ is just an excuse for authors to say the most random things they can think of without having to find a way to string events together — this feeling was particularly strong reading some of the works in this anthology. if i were to score the stories individually many of them would be more than deserving of five stars but some were just… disappointing and anticlimactic. some of the stories i really liked:- the ostrich of kampong glam: will neve...
