Cypress EO Description

“Ann, the cold and flu season is just around the corner, and already in full swing in some parts of the country. My children always seem to suffer some form of ailment once or twice a year during the winter. Which essential oil would you recommend stocking up on to alleviate the symptoms associated with common colds and the flu?”

There are several essential oils that should be stockpiled and placed in the home health and wellness cabinet. One of my favorite essential oils to rely on during the cold and flu season of winter is Cypress. This essential oil has inherent properties that allow it to be used as a decongestant, which will definitely come in handy as the season progresses.

In addition to being an excellent decongestant, Cypress is also known to possess properties conducive to being used as a sedative, which may also come in very handy during the cold and flu season. These ailments, while seldom deadly, often cause a great deal of aches and discomfort; Cypress essential oil will help get the body to sleep, providing the rest that is very much needed.

I would also recommend Cypress for anyone suffering from bronchitis, asthma, and/or any other upper respiratory ailments. This essential oil does a marvelous job of opening the sinuses, allowing the patient to experience unobstructed breathing, which is always more enjoyable than being congested.
