A Traditional Kentucky Recipes Cookbook
The Commonwealth of Kentucky is known as the Bluegrass State based on the grass which grows in its fertile pastures and the style of country music that evolved from the region. Along with Bluegrass, Kentucky also intersects the Appalachian Mountains at the East. Many wonderful mountain country dishes come from there.

Kentucky is known for its own unique form of barbecue. Owensboro, Kentucky is home to the International Bar-B-Q Festival, which is an annual barbecue competition.

Some things are similar to the style of traditional Southern dishes, but with their own unique Kentucky flair.

The Kentucky Derby is held on the first Saturday in May every year in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the first and most famous horse race of the Triple Crown which consists of three races run by thoroughbred horses three years of age. The other two races are the Preakness in Maryland and the Belmont in New York. Famous chefs create special recipes just for this very prestigious event.
