Memories of a Coal Miner's Son: A story of a young man's struggle to escape his environment!

Memories of a Coal Miner's Son: A story of a young man's struggle to escape his environment!

Dennis Brown
5/5 ( ratings)
This is a book about life in coal country; even more, life in a coal family and the communities in which they both survived and thrived. This book about a boy whose beginnings were modest at best, yet one in, which he built character and drive. This is the personal journey of a boy who could have resigned to his plight of poverty and private dilemmas, but instead kept taking one more step, one more turn, and carving out a career in education and later in public office as mayor of a busy little American town in central Ohio.
As if all of that were not enough to merit being labeled an “American story,” Frank peppers his saga with the stuff of true Americana. There was his love for one this country’s most American pastimes, high school football. His love of the game in those earlier days has become a passion for the game at every level. Frank is a true fan, and his enthusiasm is evident in his story. Those gridiron memories provided him additional grist for the mill of his young life and helped form his personal history and values.
