Instantly went out and grabbed the full novel.
The cover is pretty, the synopsis pick my interest and I saw lot positive review from my goodreads feed so my expectation went up and unfortunately, it did not live my expectation. I am sad to say that I feel nothing when reading this book. Maybe because it started slow and I can't relate to the character
Review can also be found on Snow White Hates Apples. Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars This sneak peak of Nina LaCour’s upcoming book We Are Okay is the best that I’ve ever read. Never have I been immediately sucked into a book’s world—not even by my utmost favourite books, but this one got me hooked at its very first sentence, leaving no room for objections whatsoever because it’s just that good at keeping my attention. The imagery LaCour’s narrative creates is a beautiful one—fittingly depressin...
5 Stars - I recommend this if you are interested in well written YA contemporary fiction. This story was packed with colorful characters, emotional depth, and intriguing relationships. I would like to thank penguin for this sneak peak free in exchange for an honest review. I didn't connect to this at all and skimmed read. I will not be getting the full book.
nice
I'm not rating this because this is a sneak peek (from NetGalley), and I haven't read the entire book (yet?). I'm not sure how many pages the sneak peek is, but it took me maybe half an hour to read so I feel like it was a decent introduction. We Are Okay is about loss, grief, and loneliness. I can assume that it's also about overcoming these things. It's a quiet, character driven story about Marin who's hiding away at college after her grandfather dies. She's cut contact with everyone she knew,
I enjoyed the first four chapters of this netgalley excerpt and want to read more. It felt fresh to have a story about a girl raised by her grandfather who died recently. Also Marin is a lesbian and the narrative is set at college, which makes it all the more original. The writing was beautiful. This YA novel was released last week in the USA.
A great taster. Left me wanting to read more and find out what was going on!
