The first extensive publication and solo museum exhibition for fast-moving British video, sound and installation artist James Richards is a lyrical meditation on the body as a site for the flow of material and sensations. In place of a traditional catalog, Richards has produced an image-driven artists book through the use of collage. Selected fragments from multiple sources including recent museum shows, re-create on paper the highly affective visual effects of his videos which combine footage from a wide range of sources such as newscasts, medical documentaries, and French erotica as well as each institutions own archives of video documentation. Richardss video works have been shown at the New Museum, NY, The Walker Art Center and will be included in the upcoming Whitney Biennial 2017. The exhibition toured in 2016 to Bergen Kunsthall, Norway; Institute of Contemporary Arts, London; and Kestner Gesellschaft, Hanover .
