Whimsicality is being fanciful and playful and imaginative and it’s definitely there in the Bible. Yet, we tend to suppress this aspect of Scripture. That’s too bad for those of us who love the quirks of life since those verses particularly speak to us. After all, it’s not always duty, drudgery and Deuteronomy in the Bible. There’s also vivid imagery, like the rainbow throne in Revelation, to say nothing of humor. These sermons are meant to capture some of this side of the Faith. But they do more than that. They are also meant to speak to the pastoral needs of the whimsical heart.
