Fantastic first issue! The premise is absolutely fascinating. Locke is a police officer investigating the murder of his childhood sweetheart and he's aided by Spencer, his childhood imaginary friend. The Calvin and Hobbes style flashbacks are superb and the interaction between Spencer and Locke is utterly believable. My biggest concern is how will the story keep going after this initial case? It's mind-boggling trying to work out how events progressed in reality...I'm looking forward to more!
This is totally awesome!!!
It's a gritty Calvin & Hobbes, I dig it so much.
Wow. Talk about blowing away expectation! This book was absolutely amazing. I grew up reading every Calvin and Hobbes book I could get my hands on and clearly David Pepose had a similar childhood. Then odd and references are positively delightful! This noir detective story answers the question “What happened once Calvin grew up?”
This book's got everything: Gritty cop drama, anthropomorphic animals, imaginary friends, Sunday comic strip cuteness, violence, good story telling, great art work. Definitely going to continue with this one.
An OK first issue. There is not enough for me personally to stick with the story. The story felt very generic. I did like Locke a lot. His character and design were one of the positive aspects of this book. I am not really looking forward to the next issue but I will give this series another chance. Hopefully, the second issue will have a more engaging plot.
