Pay Attention, Slosh!

Pay Attention, Slosh!

Mark Smith
4/5 ( ratings)
Eight-year-old Josh is a great soccer player and he's a smart kid -- especially when it comes to computers and in math. Josh also has ADHD -- Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder. At school and at home, Josh gets into trouble a lot. He has trouble sitting still and paying attention. Sometimes he can't stop talking, even when he knows he's headed for more trouble. When his classmates make fun of Josh and call him Slosh, it's especially painful.

After talking to his teacher, Josh's parents deride to take him to a doctor. When the doctor diagnoses Josh and gives them all some helpful advice, things begin to look up. Best of all, over time, Josh's classmates come to appreciate Josh as just another one of the guys.

About four percent of all school-age children have ADHD, a condition more common in boys. Mark Smith, whose son has been diagnosed with ADHD, has written a realistic and compelling story for all children. Mark Smith lives in Texas; the illustrator lives in Maryland.
