Forensic pathologist Margo Nolan is wholly unprepared when she is named guardian to a girl she once loved as her own. Jamie Gillespie volunteered to step in for his uncle, the village doctor—in part as a favour to the older man, and in part to stick it to his father’s lofty ambitions for him.
