This new series hits the sweet spot of the early reader. Mad capped and action packed (just like Clint's brain). Clint is slightly unlikeable but his friends are used to him, so they stick with him. Mom is a little hapless. Im interested in seeing if this will simply be episodic, or if Clint's character will grow.Either way, kids are sure to give this one a go.
Copy provided by the publisher.Clint (whose real name is Walter), is constantly in trouble at school, where his impulsive behavior is ill-received. When walking home with his mother and two best friends, Marco and M.L., he sees a monster, and manages to get into a kerfluffle with it, taking off its arm. Unfortunately, the monster isn't real, but is part of a film. Clint is ordered off the set, but thinks he could definitely improve the film if he were to be involved. Luckily, the director was a
New transitional chapter book series about a young boy, who has trouble controlling his impulses when they zing, song, zing! But that's when he gets great ideas - it's just that his ideas don't always work out the way he envisions.
This book was ok... but I felt like the message implies to kids that by doing what they want, even if they're disobeying someone, everything will still turn out ok in the end. There don't seem to be any consequences and I don't think that's a good lesson.
Grade 1 and up; Walter (or Clint McCool, as he calls himself) is a high energy, active boy with lots of big ideas. He means well and though he has trouble focusing and controlling his impulses, the story remains appropriately light and fluffy for this age group. Eventually his antics land him in a movie role, where he learns some important life lessons from the director. The chaotic narrative bounces quickly around and doesn't delve too deeply under the surface of Walter's thoughts- because Walt...
It feels a lot like Captain Awesome but less tight.
Takes you on adventures and definitely feel Clint's discomforts and other feelings.
Kind of hard for a reader to think "pink" when the entire book is printed in blue.
Couldn't get into it
I enjoyed this book. Clint McCool is Walter's alter-ego. He wears a cap with special powers. I couldn't determine whether they were just imaginary or whether he was supposed to be an actual superhero. I am leaning towards make-believe. He and his friends, Marco and M.L. (a girl), enjoy getting into trouble together. This time that trouble involves a movie set. Clint McCool has his heart set on being in movie. Chaos and humor result. This book is perfect for emerging chapter book readers. It's dec...
This is a great book for a reluctant reader, or kids that are starting to read chapter books. It is fast paced, has lots of pictures and has some color. It also ends with a good positive outlook on life; a growth mindset quote.
Clint McCool is a kid with a million ideas always zinging through his head, who has time for boring school? Who can focus? A step above the easy reader level, this exciting chapter book still has larger type, simple sentence structures and frequent black-pen drawings with blue accents.
I received a bound galley from TLA. Thank you! Clint McCool - every teacher has one.Clint McCool - every kid wants to be his friend.Clint McCook - finds adventure around every corner.
I liked it when there were brain flashes and when Clint was recorded in the movie.
