I live in Shawnee, Kansas, along with my husband Clarence. We enjoy the companionship of our daughter and husband, Shelly and Cameron Hartl and our three grandchildren, Kiera, Carver and Harrison. Since retiring from a career in education, I have at last fulfilled my life-long dream of becoming a published author.

I am an Elder in the Community of Christ, am a self-taught pianist and retired elementary classroom and music teacher. In 1992, I wrote and published a song for the Maryville, Mo D.A.R.E. , entitled Dare to Be Different, when my husband was the D.A.R.E. resource officer there. I have written, and published poetry, and as the Newspaper in Education Director at the St. Joseph News-Press, have created and published numerous NIE classroom resources. Although publishing books is a new experience for me, writing them has occurred over several years.

I published my first book, Diane’s Daily Devotions in 2014. While writing that book, the thought for this book formed, as a complementary handbook. All Christians desire to read and understand the Scriptures, but many don’t have time to search out those most relevant to their lives. This book will help readers easily find and study the most cherished and memorable Scriptures. I’ve formatted them as prose and poetry rather than a more tedious scripture form. My hope is that readers will find a deeper sense of the beauty of the Scripture passages, in this format.

I’ve included a collection of some of the poems I’ve written, as a final section of the book. While not Scriptural, they do blend the application of the Scriptures with events in our everyday lives.
May you be filled with God’s spirit as you read and reflect
on each scripture in this collection of Treasured Words of God.
