This is NOT an entire story, just the first part of one. I HATE that.
My first audio-book in forever. I should really listen to more…But yes. It took a long while to get through this, but I’m glad I was able to listen to this story with the narrator. The narrator was amazing and the story was really good. I was hooked right away.The story follows Percival at first, but then the book switches and we then follow the Baron for a while learning about his past and more about this world. There's something so magical about reading a daring story focusing on that witching hour of childhood, between boy and man. I have a definite sweet-spot for tales like this one. And add to that history, mystery, and dark fantasy. Refreshingly good for sure, after some of the other stuff I've been digging into lately for research. Got pulled in with the telling of this tale. But confess that the scottish accent was a major draw.The story is a good start of a series that includes the backstory and beginning of mentor and friendship relations in a paranormal setting.

Very entertaining for some supernatural drama!
First of all let me say I really enjoyed this book and will be looking for more in this series to see what else happens with these characters. I wasn’t sure going in what if I would like this or not but after reading the blurb it did catch my attention. It does flip back and forth from now till times in the past but really felt it was carried out well and helped you connect with different characters so that the story was stronger for it. It felt a little like Harry Potter but darker. I loved how he takes the reader through different time periods. The narration was engaging and the story is well written. That ending was a surprising twist. I can't wait for book 2!
I thought this story was about a young boy and an adventure with an old history. But its more an old history come to the future and landing on a young boy. Entertaining story and clean as far as adult books go. It was not the type of book that I couldn't put down, but it did hold my attention. It was sort of nice to have a book that I could enjoy listening to (I listened to it via Audible) but could put down when my responsibilities demanded it.
