I'm not the kind of person that comments or criticizes single editions of comic books, but I had to come here to at least say that this isby far one of the best biweekly issues that I have ever read in my life because of the scene when Superman and Batman are talking about eache other and explaining to their respective girls why their like and respect each other so much. This is one of the most elegant, toug=ching and informed texts that I have seen with those two characters and I think only som...
Just fantastic.
This was a really great issue. I liked the parallels between Superman and Batman, and I laughed out loud when Lois introduced herself to Catwoman. Definitely better than the last arc.
How? How does this series keep getting better? Apparently there is no limit. This issue is the perfect issue for anyone who enjoys Batman and Superman as friends. It was beautiful.
Excellent. Don't know how long King's run will be, but however long it will be won't be long enough. I know a lot of people really love Snyder's run but I think King's consistently better in every regard.
Let me set the stage: Tom King writes a Batman story and it is the best Batman story I have ever read. What a time to be alive. Also -- that story I was talking about? -- it was the last issue of Batman. Stage is set, and then I read this Batman story. THIS IS NOW THE BEST BATMAN STORY I HAVE EVER READ.Tom King keeps knocking these out of the park. I adore the art, so kudos on the creative team. Truly, what a time to be alive.
This issue really shows how Batman and Superman view eachother. This is awesome.
Easily Kings best issue so far. A great Batman and Superman story.
Tom King is such a fabulous writer. The line switch at the very end made this issue one of my favorites.
This was excellent--story and art--other than the ridiculous sexy poses they made Catwoman do. A two page spread of this issue was mentioned on Twitter as a positive counterpoint to the awful Batman and Superman we've seen in movies lately. I bought it based on that and was (almost) not disappointed even though I think very little of DC anything nowadays.
Now that was F’n Awesome!!!
I absolutely loved how it connected the characters. Watching Batman and Superman talk about how much they admire each other was a perfect depiction of their relationship. Amazing story!
This was a masterpiece. I'm screaming.
"Oh hi, I'm Lois. You must be Catwoman" - Lois Lane.
I swear if they go on to build this superb emotional story and then kill Catwoman for a cheap shot at fame, I'll discontinue reading Batman. Too good... this 20-22 page comic is even better than the JL movie.
Great Batman single issue or Greatest Batman single issue?I can say without exaggeration that this is in contention for best Batman single issue ever. This is basically going to make me read all of the Tom King run. Originally I wasn't impressed with the Rebirth special, but if THIS is where King eventually takes the audience then I feel like I've been missing something special.
No idea why people love this issue so much... 36 issues in, and there's still nothing happens in current run of Batman. And this issue... it's just Batman and Superman trying to decide who should call whom. Cheesy writing from Tom King included. Something like that may be OK as a part of something real, but the entire issue just for that... Why the new Batman is so painfully boring?
Tom King in Batman #36 writes a story that treads the familiar truth and justice, world's finest fanservice beats and themes that will easily win the hearts of fans and casual readers alike; But his brilliant dialogue writing gives this issue a heart that we can rarely feel in a mainstream superhero comics. He may not be the best in writing grander stories (that's the forte of Snyder, Johns and Bendis) but it has been proven by god and man alike that Tom King is the king of comics screenplay, wea...
I can't believe I was once wary of King's abilities to write proper characterization. The last three-four arcs have been insanely good on this point. He's also really good at creating small stories that don't have a lot of impact on the grand scheme of things but still have the readers hooked. And, last bu not least, the way he writes women is proof that artists who create sexist versions of female characters are not doing this because they're men ; they are just being lazy and bad authors. Sorr...
A more personal approach of Batman and Superman, as human being. More sentimental, life like heroes. So far I like that, I just hope it won't become too personal, there are still comic book and need a lot of actions too be entertaining, in my opinion, so I hope the scenarist won,t do the same kind of thing they did with the Superman collection so it became just about him, his son and Lois... Fingers cross
