One of my pet theories is that earthman originally came from Mars, there is a lot of evidence to support this theory, as has been shown with photographs taken by passing vehicles.
There are pictures of abandoned cities, now only the foundations show, and there is a pyramid, maybe it is only a large rock shaped like a pyramid, but the most compelling evidence is the scare on the surface of the planet. This was not a natural occurrence, this was caused by a large object grazing the surface of mars.
It is speculated that millions of years ago a passing asteroid drew off the Martian atmosphere and seas. It was a very close miss, but it did a lot of damage to the planet.
There may have been life there. If there was, they may have had the technology to get away and head for planet earth. This is only one theory among many.
What if an asteroid was headed this way, would we try and get back to mars? We have the technology, and it is the only planet close enough for man to get to. But with no breathable air, we would have to make it there and this is a daunting task. Thus I have written a little story about man’s escape from total destruction of planet earth. With all the heroes of the story, and their modes of survival. But only time will tell the true story.
