This is one of those hasty and ground less conjectures which our friends are apt to take up, without any knowledge of the facts of the case, and merely for the sake of working themselves out of a difficulty. This little book alone is enough to convince any candid reader of the falsehood of these charges; It is manifest that Monseigneur Borie was animated by no other desire than the salvation of souls; and any person is to be pitied who will not confess that the An namite Christians are among the best fol lowers of J esus Christ to be fbund in the world. So it is with regard to all Catholic missionaries and missions, as any one may convince himself who will read the Lives of our great missionary saints, and the Annals of the missions, published by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. While the entire failure of Protestants to accomplish any great results in the way of missions is becoming daily more manifest even to themselves, the cheering and con.
