Julia Linderman has always dreamed of a life out west having spent her childhood reading all she could find about this mysterious place with its tales of cowboys, gunslingers, and swooning ladies.
However, a genteel lady of the south does not travel to the west nor does she anticipate that the man her father has chosen for her marriage will want to go west either. Julia has other plans though, plans that will take her far away to a land of promise and excitement.

Samuel Wilkins is bereft at the loss of his wife during childbirth and survives with the help of his neighbor's kindness, but how long can he carry on like this? He needs help and he needs it fast.
