Prelude to the Assassin - An Io Rising Prequel (Espionage in the Twenty Third Century Book 1)

Prelude to the Assassin - An Io Rising Prequel (Espionage in the Twenty Third Century Book 1)

Eric Gale
0/5 ( ratings)
Uriens Raelix, the hero of Io Rising, did not start out as a pernicious and amoral man. The instructors of the College of Special Sciences went to great lengths to turn an innocent boy into a ruthless Tactical Reality Interface Operative and assassin. Through eight long years, beginning at the age of eight, Uriens instructors carefully molded him through the use of torture, discipline exercises, and academics. Even worse, they forced him to kill other boys in order to survive. In this way they weeded out the week and left only the strongest boys standing. Outwardly, Uri appears to revel in the violence and pain, convincing the other boys that he is a ruthless killer to be avoided. He is rewarded with copious amounts of drugs that heighten his perception, sharpen his wits, and focus his strength. On the drug he quite literally feels no pain. He forms an alliance of four boys, and they use their superior numbers to great effect. Without knowing it, his instructors have failed. Inwardly he yearns for his old life with his young love Alia Anor. He dreams of reuniting with her. He has retained his empathy and conscience, and keeps it skillfully hidden from them. He has no idea of the conflicts that will arise in him later in life due to this fact. Nevertheless, he is destined to be a great triOperativ who will one day bring the University to its fall, and later form an alliance of justice and mercy that the Solar System desperately needs. This is just the beginning of his epic story.
