One Name, Two Lives

One Name, Two Lives

Royall Tyler
0/5 ( ratings)
Here are two autobiographical memoirs: "Setting Sail" by Royall Tyler and "Blind Turtle Swims the Sea" by his grandson Royall Tyler .
The author of "Setting Sail" was a remarkable, many-faceted man. His memoir covers his first quarter-century, to about 1910. It begins in Quincy, Massachusetts and ends--via Harrow, Oxford, Salamanca, and Paris--in Simancas, Spain.
The author of "Blind Turtle Swims the Sea" is a prominent translator of Classical Japanese literature. His memoir begins in London, follows a meandering path through the U.S., France, and Japan, and ends in rural Australia, between Canberra and the Pacific Ocean.
Neither life is ordinary, however true it may be that no one's is.
