After he rose from the dead, a message of peace was the first thing Jesus said to his gathered apostles, and it is an essential part of every mass. For Father John O'Toole, it was a practice not only reserved for mass, but for the masses – the people he met every day of his life. His calling was spreading the word of the Lord, and that meant peace and harmony for all those that not only came into his congregation, but into his life.
As Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Easter season, it inspires people of faith to Lent-to make their own sacrifice. To give up something in honor of the 40 days and nights that Christ went into the depths of detachment. The very notion of peace that Jesus sought seemed to be the one commodity that Father O'Toole's Catholic world would be giving up. Bloodshed and violence were spreading through the Northeast, and Father O'Toole was on his knees every night praying for a cure.
This Easter season, Father O’Toole will be battling to stay alive, fighting his own demons in the form of Alcohol all the while trying to crack the case of who is the serial killer moving West, while trying to not crack the bottle in fear.
