The Libertine is the first of seven chapter books in the Scion Series, each containing a fictional tale and a short study. Being the first, it speaks of beginnings, that is, the beginning of the Church. Partly fiction and partly historical, biblical figures intertwine with celestial happenings as Lucifer attempts to thwart the redemptive plan of God. Mixing scriptural narrative and cultural settings, the heroes of this tale race toward a climactic moment when providence and promise collide. The study portion identifies the nascent church—its cultural designation, and the original members. It sets the stage for a first century perspective of the New Covenant to be further explored in subsequent books of the Scion Series. Each chapter book will begin with a fictional tale that carries the heart of the study guide portion. Enjoy.
