Olivia's Pickles is a story about making some unusual Alaskan pickles. While looking for a toddler safe activity to do on a rainy day we happened to choose a beach walk , collecting bullwhip kelp, and making pickles. My daughter Olivia always wants to help... eat them . Even though it has been a few years since I wrote this story for her, we still walk the beaches after a good storm, and look for kelp to make pickles. For many adventurous coastal Alaskans the sea is a source of many nutritional blessings. Hopefully by sharing some of these blessings we can help others understand our wild and unique land.
