Fireside horror stories. None of them especially deep or complex; more gore and gross-out and simole plot twist than horrific or scary. Not a bad read; adult Goosebumps-type stuff.
Shivers is a multi volumes anthology series that covers the best new minds in the horror industry. Some of my favorite authors of all time have appeared at least once during the course of it's run. Some notable examples include Geoff Cooper, Mary SanGiovanni, J.F. Gonzalez, and Simon Clark. Shivers serves to entertain you with a wide arrange of different horror styles, so you will at least be exposed to a new talented author, while also being reacquainted with a familiar face. This is an excellent collection of horror stories. There is no pattern or common thread to them other than being scary and well written. This is a pretty decent collection of pure horror. Some of the stories are quite graphic in nature as well. Like most story collections there are good and bad ones. There was even one I did not know what the hell it was all about. And one I thought was a bit over the top. However there are also some pretty good ones in here as well. Overall it was worth the time spent on reading this one.
A collection of just plain, old, good horror stories. No themes, no gimmicks, just good.
