There are too frequent Occafions to obierve, that all Sefis and Parties are byafl'ed by undue Prejudicesagainfi one another: . Self love mfenfibly determxnes us to entertain a fond Oprmonoof any Scheme or Part'n' which we are engaged in, and to look art it in a flattering, tho' it ould be a falli: Light 5 and at the fame ume, to take u with us mtfiaken Notions 0 our Ad verfnnes, imputeabfurd intona to them which they never en tertained, and tnthe Errors they may have been really. Led a firay by go t e Drfadvantage, and more crooked and deformed than the Life. And as this inhumane and uncharrtable Treatment of one another, is owing rather to the Temper of our Minds, than any particular Principles of the Dofirtne which we embrace it may be equal] charn'ed upon Perfqns of every Side, who have not learn ed to fix ue t err own Spirit; nor endeavoured to govern their Pallions by Reafon, and fweetned their Tempers by Humility, and Meek and Charity; Virtues which have become as admirable for their arenas, as for their Excellency.
