For an outsider looking in, Axel Stenberg would appear to be a reserved if not intimidating teen. Despite living in a meager home in the woods with only his grandfather and his dog, Axel’s life was fairly normal. Outside of his closest and oldest friend, Selena Holopainen, no one bothered to approach him and that was how he liked it. Then a half snake half woman creature destroys his home and leaves his grandpa and dog for dead. Now, Axel finds that he can smash car sized holes in walls, breathe fire, and grow scales in uncomfortable places.

When Axel had always wanted to learn why his hair and eyes looked so different from everyone else, the last answer he would have expected was that he was a Dragon. With the revelation that he and his family are the furthest thing from Human and not even of this planet, Axel is forced into an existence he had only ever read about in myth and legend. Except this is life and the stories don’t always give answers to difficult questions.

Starting on a world that is familiar to and very much like our own and ending up in a world ruled and governed by powerful creatures of magic, Magicae tells the story of a young man seeking to find the answer to the question of why he is the way that he is, struggling to come to terms with the dueling natures of his heritage and the way that he was raised, all the while discovering that both his adopted world and the world of his birth are approaching destruction.
