Robert Deluiz is a 19-year-old student at San Diego Community College who, like many his age, enjoy spending hours engrossed in the world of online video games. In the course of these games, he has met many people from around the world, but only for the few fleeting moments of shared game play. That is until Robert joins one particular room in his favorite game. In there he develops strong bonds with a group of local players.

In a very short period of time, the bond grows both online and out in the real world, but Robert quickly learns not everyone, or anyone, is who they seem. He is soon trapped with his friends by one of their own and forced to participate in a series of games. In these games the stakes are higher than just points and reputation. They are life and death.
