Melville Atoll (To Deliver the Voice of God Book 4)

Melville Atoll (To Deliver the Voice of God Book 4)

Stephen Hoffman
0/5 ( ratings)
As Mike Daley washes up at an uncharted Pacific atoll after his airplane is shot down, he thinks that he has arrived at a nice refuge from World War Two, a place where he can work out the plot for a sequel to Moby Dick while he waits to be rescued. He soon finds this is the wrong spot for an ‘I only am escaped alone to tell thee’ story. The atoll is crowded with a starving and very unhappy Japanese garrison; the crew of a wrecked German U-boat on a ‘scientific’ mission to save the Third Reich; and a native village tyrannized by an irascible white cat. The law of the jungle would seem to dictate that one of these groups will win in the end, but there is another presence in the lagoon that has trapped them all in a perpetual stalemate: a low hum that appears to be the last echo of the words spoken at the creation of the universe. Although Mike’s literary talents have finessed him out of tight corners before, even in the U. S. Navy he has never had to deal with the actual Voice of God.
