The Hanging Man (A Hugo Miller Mystery, #2)

Joseph Allen
0/5 ( ratings)
Joe Allen’s first success in “trade” books was Sandcastles: The Splendors of Enchantment . His first mystery novel, Rocky Point Road, was published in 2015, followed by The Monteverdi Manuscript: A Hugo Miller Mystery in 2016. The Hanging Man, to be published December 1, 2018, is a second Hugo Miller Mystery, set largely in Manhattan, with characters including a murderous “gypsy” dwarf, a papal legate with an overactive Twitter account, a woman promoting canonization for a 19th century New Yorker, a long-dead gangster who may have left buried gold in the basement of a condemned building, the wife of a murdered man on the lam with her infant son, and a tribe of possibly mutant males who live in tunnels underground on the west side of NYC.

His other forthcoming novel about a sprawling New York family from the Eisenhower years to 2015: Where All Past Years Are, is set largely on the west shore of Lake Champlain in New York near the Canadian border. It will be published September 1, 2018. He is currently working on a third Hugo Miller mystery and a mystery, Boom! that starts with a deadly explosion at a fireworks factory in Arizona.

Joe is also the author of five nonfiction books including Effective Business Communications: A Practical Guide. His Systems in Actions: A Social and Managerial Approach was used as a text in advanced problem-solving in several MBA programs, including the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He contributed chapters to two Aspatore books on investor relations.

Most of Joe’s business career was with Bozell & Jacobs and then at Allen & Caron Inc., a consulting and investor relations firm he founded in 1981 in Irvine, California. Under his leadership, the company worked with clients in the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Greece, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, South Africa, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and Argentina, among other countries.

Joe served on the boards of several small companies, was vice chairman of the United Way in Orange County, California, has written on a variety of topics for numerous leading magazines and newspapers and has published interviews with financial luminaries on SeekingAlpha.com.

Joe studied Classical Languages and English Literature at UCLA in the 1960s, prior to becoming an editor of scholarly journals at Sage Publications, and then a marketing manager at Benziger Bruce & Glencoe, a college publishing subsidiary of Macmillan. He has been married for 45 years, has two children and two grand-daughters
