The Last Jedi adapted for younger readers. I couldn't get past the art. The characters are all highly caricaturized while the backgrounds are computer generated with smooth even lines. Even the coloring between the two was different. It was really off-putting.
This is just the film in condensed comic form.
Interesting Comic that follows the movie. Nothing new but a well drawn comic
Another day, another Alessandro Ferrari Star Wars graphic novel adaptation. The man keeps busy.
I enjoyed the art work but it just felt like I was reading a bad version of the Empire Strikes Back.
Straight up adaptation of the movie. Nothing special added. Art was good and the story flowed nice. Very good for kids who like the movie and want to experience it in graphic novel form.
This was a nicely done adaptation. A few tidbits are missing here and there, some of which I missed more than others (did not miss milking the space cow.... did miss the little broom grab at the end.... etc etc). The artist's style takes a little getting used to but I've read his other adaptations and that helped. Once it grew on me I really enjoyed it - he gets the look of the characters pretty spot on. It made me want to watch the movie again, and also get reading on the novelization.
Sometimes graphic novels reveal some information or clear up confusing aspects of the film they're based on. This did not. A straightforward adaptation, with nothing new. The artwork was very good.
A little bit too cartoony, the feeling of seriousness wasn't quite there. The story is otherwise adapted intact, although quite a lot of diaglogue was removed.Highly recommended for a quick read.
IDW's adaptation was a fun, easy to swallow adaptation of the story. There won't be much variation that you will get from the Marvel version and IDW, but the artwork could prove more attractive to a younger reader. I still really enjoyed reliving the story in this format.
Not a reflection on the film, which is excellent, but this adaptation drops bits and does not add anything new.It is interesting to see slight changes made in the film, such as Rey's hairstyles. And the art is very good.
This was a very faithful adaptation of the film. Chronology, dialogue, it was all on par with the version onscreen. I gave it only three stars, for a purely personal reason, I did not care for the artwork at all. It was very vibrant, and very colorful, which was favorable. Also, the action was portrayed well. I did not like how the characters were drawn. To me, they all had this sinister look in their faces. It was just so harsh and at times menacing looking, I did not care for it.Overall though...
Like the previous graphic novel adaption, the way this is adapted does the original plot a major disservice. So many elements of the plot and character relationships are cut out or simplified, and I just found it really makes the story lackluster compared to its original.
Cute. Needed a quick read to reach my goal and this delivered. It’s definitely a truncated version of tlj but it’s still pretty good. The art style is adorable, although I feel they didn’t do Oscar isaac’s ethnic hips justice . . . but I digress. If you like tlj this is a very cute version that recreates the best parts of the film.
The same team that handled the graphic adaptation of The Force Awakens are back to work their magic on the film sequel of The Last Jedi. The same treatment that was handled on the last adaptation is still here so definitely the film has been streamlined and adapted for a younger audience so expect some scenes and dialogue to not be included but overall I found that it was, again, a good adaptation of the film. The graphic styling that caught my eye last time is still here and now with this book be...
This was fine as an adaptation. Not a fan of the art style and I wish Holdo's last stand had gotten a full page at least.
I enjoyed this much more than I did the regular graphic novel adaptation......my favorite parts were the bit with Yoda and Luke (which is my favorite scene anyway :) ) and the last Force Bond, which, again, was much better in this version than in the other one.I'm conflicted on the art style.....I love all the backgrounds and how the scenes were done, but I don't really like the look of the characters.
2020 Read #18Serviceable, but I think the movie is more impactful, especially with the characters of Rey and Kylo Ren. Still, not bad, just different.
