★★★ — 3 Stars! I still enjoyed this but not as much as the first one. It was cool to get a little more in depth with some of the characters. And I can’t help but wonder if they made Cordelia nicer or if it’s all just an act on her part.
Cordy being all friendly to the Scooby gang from the get go is throwing me, haha. I wonder if this new series is going to have her interact more with Spike? (She doesn't really interact with Spike in the shows other than that episode of Angel with Oz, does she??)
Warning: Kind of more of a rant. I really want to keep reading this new imagining and I am enjoying it in a way, but oh my GOSH I am getting so annoyed with Xander. It might make me a terrible person, but his "nobody loves me, let me cry about it online and alone in my room" spiel is really getting on my nerves. It's just so woe is me and obnoxious and to have that be the narration for this series is what's gonna get me to stop reading if it continues. I know I should care about a sad, lonely te...
Garbage. Leave BTVS alone.
The Best Of: Buffy the Vampire Slayer #21. Buffy's nightmare. I love how, even though they have updated Buffy for 2019, they have kept her fundamental fears consistent. She is afraid of letting her friends down, of getting them killed, of disappointing Giles... Most of all, she is afraid of not having a future because she is a slayer. Bellaire and Mora really captured all those insecurities and fears in the nightmare scene.2. Joyce having a nice, supportive boyfriend who lives with her and Buffy...
MUCH stronger than issue 1! I was wondering if it was Buffy or Spike narrating but it was Xander the whole issue! And I love his voice. Kinda sad for him. I think male loneliness and social roles and the weight they take on teen boys aren't often explored enough or in sympathetic ways so this was a nice, cool direction to see it take.I also am fascinated by Anya's shop, I wish I could explore and browse places like that for hours. Beautiful art as usual, enjoyed seeing Cordelia and Spike, and Ro...
So Drusilla is not crazy anymore, Spike is only a mere follower, AND Cordelia is nice off the bat instead of her old mean girl self who will grow into the Cordelia we learn to love....First, you get rid of Oz....now this....
As much as I love TV show Cordelia, it's so refreshing having her be kind, thoughtful and truly appreciated. The mean girl vibe made sense in the 90's, but she's a smart woman, she'd definitely be "woke" nowadays and intensely feminist. The fact that she's still confident and unapologetic makes her feel true to herself, just more up to date. I hope Xander and her will still have their high school romance, before he meets Anya or Dawn appears. Having a kind yet self-assured girlfriend would be go...
This issue is otherwise known as the one where Cordelia returns (I need anyone who is reading this to know that whenever Cordelia is mentioned, I begin singing the Cordelia jingle from Buffering the Vampire Slayer in my head), although I have a lot of questions about it. For the most part, we're still in introduction mode (and I suppose it helps that there's seven years of character development from the television show to draw from), but the creative team are going to great lengths to make sure
The reboot continues in this issue. So far I’ve been enjoying the series, but I’m also not terribly surprised by that either. I didn’t read the original series though, so I don’t know how different these two are from each other. Or how similar they are. They’ve done a great job of reminding us that these characters are teenagers. Buffy is a vampire slayer, yes, but she’s also emotional and moody and sometimes just needs some time to herself. Her friends likewise need help and support, and not
We'll still setting up the characters. This issue introduced Drusilla, Spike and Cordelia -- mainly Cordelia and gave us some more information of Xander, Buffy and Willow. Willow apparently has a girlfriend Rose and they've fittingly not made this a big deal. (Like it would have been in the 1990s.) Joyce in this version, grew up in the 1990s. And is dating and living with a man named Eric (who bears a close resemblance to David Boreanze, for a bit I thought it was Angel. It's not. And they've li...
