"This book consists chiefly of letters from Sri Anirvan to L.R. and of recorded conversations that took place during their numerous meetings, in Almora, in Assam and Bengal. A few of Sri Anirvan’s essays have been added, as well as “Rambling Thoughts”* shared with his devoted students.

Before his death he read the present text carefully and revised it by shortening certain things or adding what he felt was needed to express better his own ideas."

"Her first book on Shri Anirvan is La vie dans la vie, published in 1969. From our perspective of a connected history and in terms of book history, it is particularly interesting to note that she translated the English correspondence into French for this publication. The book is and was often used to determine the life story of Shri Anirvan, since he had told it to her. In 1983, after his death, an English translation of the book was published in Calcutta and many changes can be noticed. The proclaimed author is now only Shri Anirvan, and Lizelle Reymond is named as the compiler, with the parts concerning her missing. The correspondence is now published in the original English, no longer the translated version. The book is called Letters from a Baul. Gurdjieff, regularly named by Lizelle Reymond in her French version, is absent from the English edition . The book is for many a reference book on Shri Anirvan. The subtitle in French is Pratique de la philosophie du sâmkhya d’après l’enseignement de Shrî Anirvân, whereas in the English version it is Letters from a Baul: Life within Life. These changes were made by Lizelle Reymond after Shri Anirvan’s death and thus reflect events in her life and her active role in the history of yoga . She died in 1994 at the age of 95."

Note: "La vie dans la vie", published in 1969, was translated into English as "To Live Within" and published in 1971 by Garden City: Doubleday .
