Bandido: Bull with soul

Bandido: Bull with soul

Daniel Martins
0/5 ( ratings)
Neyliowan Tomazeli, who had been the champion in Barretos, the most prestigious rodeo in the world, two years before, did not show a single sign of worry when he was chosen to ride a little known bull, but was already famous for being tough, in the PBR World Championship in Jaguariúna, State of São Paulo. His friend Adriano Moraes, who was already a bi- champion of the PBR World Championship and had been easily bucked off by the bull two years before, had already warned him of the risk. It was useless. For Neyliowan, that Saturday night in October 2001 was like many others he had experienced in his life.
As usual, the cowboy arrived early and got prepared to ride. He put on his vest, but refused to wear a helmet. He prayed for the protection of Our Lady of Aparecida. Then, he calmly climbed up the bucking chute, only to gaze at the crowded arena. After that, he decided to take a look at his opponent for one last time before riding this bull. He faced a white front and, just then, he realized something different. There was nothing that could strike fear in him, but that was a rather distinct look from the ones he was used to seeing in the many rides he had already gone through.
