Interesting concept, and I enjoyed the illustrations. I read three stories and found those three solutions were not necessarily logical. spoiler: example:The design of a sword woven into clothing does not mean that person had a murder weapon on them.That would be like me wearing a shirt with a donut on it and having to carry around donuts all the time. 😀 (Honestly, not the worst idea I’ve had. Off to source donut shirts....)

Puzzles were a bit tricky for me.

Murder Most Puzzling at first glance looks like a children’s book, but this illustrated brain tickler is, instead, full of puzzling mysteries for adult readers to play sleuth. Each ne to two page story is accompanied by a page of illustrations to help one unravel the solution to the mystery. Far from easy, but a delight for the little grey cells, and for the eyes, this is a wonderful way to pass the time and feel clever.

A good mental challenge. This is a collection of twenty mostly logic problems that are a medium level challenge. The fact that the artist is British is a little bit of a challenge itself in deciphering a few of the clues, but mostly observation and basic knowledge will get you through these puzzlers. My math skills were not up to the task on the one serious math problem though.

Art is great, but puzzles are far fetched.

The writing is funny and the illustrations are fantastic. But the way the puzzle was set-up and run through was either terrible, too easy, or too illogical in the sense that you expect real murder clues or real solving. but instead you get this. great ideas, really. but the execution was a big NOPE. especially the SLBF puzzle, really just nope. NO. NO NONONONONO

This ingenious little read allowed the reader to take on the role of detective, as they worked to solve the number of cases that featured here. I felt immersed in the book, which felt far more like a game from the very first paragraph, where the second person perspective was used:Your decision to answer the small ad in the Gazette was mainly motivated by your meagre finances, and by the vague promise of excitement. Who hasn’t wondered what detectives do all day? And you do enjoy a good brain tea...

This was a fun, brain-teaser type book. Filled with short stories and good illustrations, the reader is called upon to try to solve mysteries using clues that are literally right before the eyes. For more help, there are additional clues for each mystery given in the back of the book. Solutions to each of the 20 mysteries are presented.I completed this in about two hours, but will most likely keep it for anyone who might be visiting, or to pull out again to see if I can solve these twisters some...

It was good the first half of solving, but then...it felt to me it kept leaving out the "find 5 items" or what is missing from the photo..Illustrations are stunning!! I did enjoy it for the most part, but it felt incomplete.

A fun little book. Searching for this, searching for that. Find the monkey. Look very carefully and you will do better than most folks.

The illustrations are excellent, but the mysteries aren't great. In many cases, they seem to be designed solely to draw readers' attention to the illustrations. In most cases, the descriptions of the mysteries are too vague to draw the conclusions described in the solutions.

Overall fun to pick up and do a puzzle nightly. A few were pretty straight-forward to solve, one or two were a bit trickier and one in particular annoyed me- no spoilers but you'd have to know what a particular poison would actually taste like in order to correctly figure out the solution. Other then that, it was a pleasant way to pass some time. I would acquire more puzzle-books like this

While I love the premise of this book and admired the authors use of both story and pictures to solve a mystery, I thought that the mysteries were just too far-fetched. This book was so much fun! My husband received it as a gift. On first appearance I thought it was a book on how to host a murder party, lol. *3.5 stars* This definitely was fun but also had some really unnecessary puzzles that either felt way too easy or incredibly difficult. While I LOVED the 20’s historical setting and how lots of the puzzles were themed for it I still was not prepared for some of the puzzles that involved you knowing some very specific details about the time...

First, the good: It's a very pretty book. I appreciate the artist's style. The story set-ups also have very whimsical names. Loved going through these puzzles with my daughter. There were definitely a few duds that detracted from the overall rating but generally good fun. Great illustrations, could use better lead-ins for some of the mysteries. The “clues” weren’t particularly helpful since they only confirmed what you thought you were looking for. Still, wish there was a book 2!
