I love when Ripley gets to tell the stories!
I liked this so much??? I love the janes so so much??? aaaah
Hahahahahahaha "It's worse than we thought. They're playing badminton."
Very cute for what it is, which is; a free floppy. Two perfectly picked Lumberjanes shorts. They're both cute, funny and entertaining, so a great intro into the LJ world. While I quit reading Lumberjanes because I wasn't all there for the art, these two stories are beautifully drawn. It's almost a pity that Polterink didn't get to draw the cover, honestly. Their work is lovely.
Lilah Sturges and polterink reunite for another Lumberjanes OGN, and it's full of heart and wonder and supernatural weirdness, just as you'd expect.Sturges gets the voices of these characters really well, almost as well as the usual series writers. The relationships that she gets to play with feel fully formed and well developed, and even if some of the conflict is a little artificial in that it could be defused with a conversation, it doesn't stop her from having fun with it. The overall plot's...
The Lumberjanes find a cave full of friendly pooka, who proceed to shapeshift into perfect-camper versions of the girls while leaving the real troop trapped in a maze of tunnels (possibly full of cave snakes!).While the escape and the reclaiming of the girls' identities provides the plot, the real conflict is April and Jo struggling to figure out their friendship, and where Barney fits into the dynamic between them.Everything about this book gets better as it moves along. The opening scenes are
Quintessential Lumberjanes goodness! Good, pure, real, and heartfelt. Funny, endearing story with great art. Loved the limited color palette.
Holy shapshifters! The Lumberjanes meet a sweet group of creatures who impersonate them and wild adventures ensue.
Another Lumberjanes graphic novel adventure! Jo, April, Mal, Molly, Ripley, former scouting lad Barney, and counselor Jen are at it again....chasing domesticated opossums leads to an interesting turn of events! In this book, you learn new information on Jo, and I think Jen really comes to accept that her girls will not be the perfect campers! Camp Director Rosie makes an appearance in this book, but definitely takes a backseat to the Roanoke cabin ladies! I loved how this book wrapped up! Recomm...
Language: G (0 swears, 0 “f”); Mature Content: G; Violence: GThe Lumberjanes are great at finding strange things happening in the woods -- much to the dismay of their camp counselor, Jen. When curiosity leads these campers to a cave, they end up trapped by pookas intent on taking their places at camp. Will the girls get back in time to save Jen and the other campers? While part of a series, no previous knowledge is necessary for this volume. These girls experience some misadventures while also tr...
These graphic novels are such a delight. The threat in this one might be my favourite so far.
A little stand-alone story in the "Lumberjanes" world. The girls find a group of Pookas - shape-shifters who trap the girls in order to take over their lives. The girls must find their way out of a maze-like cave system to get back to camp. Meanwhile Jen, worried about uncharacteristically compliant campers, goes on her own adventure following a mysterious & well-dressed dog. This was really cute, and we got to see more development of the friendship between April and Jo.I'm quite enjoying this st...
Fantastical tales told by an unreliable source.
One word: pookas!
This is a collective review for the entire Lumberjanes series.I’ve been wanting to do a complete Lumberjanes read-through ever since I bought the first TPB at the New York ComiCon, back when the series first started. My son and I had just finished reading Namona together, and I was a big Noelle Stevenson fan on the back of that, so Lumberjanes was an obvious choice for what to read next. I read the first few volumes, and then let it sit for a few years as the series ran its course. Now, I have t...
This was super cute! I love their graphic novels. This one had a lot of focus on Jo and Barney and their friendship. It's really nice to see them bonding, since they have a lot in common. The diversity in this series is one of it's strongest points, alongside all the crazy fantasy creatures involved, and this one handled it really well. Can't wait for their next endeavor into these longer format graphic novels!
Another really cute volume in this weird side-series. This one focuses on Jo and April's friendship as well as Barney which was really cool. I like that this series seems to be focusing more on individual friendships and relationships like that. Also I cannot believe I forgot that Jo was trans so thank you for reminding me!

This was my first Lumberjanes, and I found it so endearing and adorable! Though I think it's probably aimed at an audience that's a little younger than me, I really love the way it weaves in educational components, crafts, etc. so naturally. The references to famous feminists from history were hilarious (do camp-age kids know who Jackie Joyner-Kersee is? probably not, but they might Google her!), and I related to April so strongly it hurt. I'm not saying I cried at the end, but I'm not *not* say...
Boom Box's free Lumberjane comic from Free Comic Day reminds that I f****** love being in the Lumberjanes world. I love the Lumberjanes comics, but I have yet to dip into the Lumberjanes graphic novels. This sample convinced me that I have to. Recommended!
