Odd, a small bear, and Elsewhere, a circus clown, go to visit their friend Mr Goodman who, with his assistant, Arbuthnot, is in charge of The British Rail Lost property Office. But it has been burgled! Mr Goodman is so distressed that he decides to return to Wales and carry on his father's work of breeding and collecting butterflies.
Then Frenton House, where Odd and Elsewhere live, is burgled too. By the same gang? Odd and Elsewhere discover an important clue as well as the gang's password, The Seven Bright Shiners, which makes them think the same gang pulled off both robberies, and that the gang's next haul may be the famous Goodman collection for butterflies.
So the two friends set off for Mr Goodman's butterfly farm in Radnorshire. They soon know they're on the track of the villains, but how to catch them and return the stolen property to its rightful owners-that's much more difficult.
