I was glad to discover this collection of short stories, to get a sense of "Singaporean" literature, and will be reading other volumes. I especially liked "Edison and Curie" and "SIN".
Putting aside the ghastly cover and bizarre advertisement-as-introduction, this slimmed-down selection (16 stories, down from the 20+ in previous volumes) benefits the quality of the writing. I appreciated the diversity of the stories’ subjects, styles and their provenance, my fave being Cyril Wong’s “Blindness” and Jennani Durai’s “Regrettable Things”.
