David G. Williamson
0/5 ( ratings)
This study analyses the British presence in Germany from the Armistice until the end of the Rhineland occupation in 1930. It looks at British involvement in the Rhineland, Danzig, Upper Silesia, Schleswig and East Prussia and in the inter-Allied Control Commission in Berlin. The author explores the problems facing British military and civil officials, their attitudes towards the Germans and their relations with their allies - particularly the French. In addition, he examines diplomatic activities and the question of how key decisions in London and Paris were reached. In conclusion, both the official and unofficial retrospective assessments of the firs occupation of Germany during the time when the second occupation was being planned are discussed.
