The Penguin Dictionary of Science has been continuously in print since 1943. Originally written by E.B. Uvarov and D.R. Chapman, from the third edition it has been revised by Alan Isaacs.

With each new edition the book has expanded and been brought up to date; in this edition particular attention has been given to revising and updating the physics entries . In addition the coverage of life sciences has been considerably broadened.
