Okay… so who or what replaced Sophie. Also as a Harry Potter geek I liked the laptop workaround.
Not sure I agree with the characters' immediate reaction on what to do with a dead body...but it was an interesting read, at least.
I’m enjoyed reading this more than the first. I predicted the ending of this one, but I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one.
Ooh, this one ended on a cliffhanger.
Interesting enough for me to keep going especially the big reveal at the end. Not crazy about the artwork though.

I think knowing what the characters actually look like is amazing
Strong on action and interaction between characters, this book really falls into the rhythm of the original books/television show. Picks up exactly at the end of #1 and ends with one heck of a cliffhanger. Lots of f-bombs in this one, if that matters to you.
Very enjoyable read so far. Despite the dark plot, it's so comforting stepping back into a world I'm already familiar with and seeing the writer build and expand on the lore and magic. The new group of characters are pretty interesting. The queer representation is subtle too, which is nice.

If the Magicians writers’ room were at all competent they would’ve come up with something like this for s5 instead of killing my sweet boy off. We could’ve just rebooted the cast at the end of s4 (a move that would absolutely gone over terribly) and it would’ve still been a better ending than the one they gave us!!
The MagiciansIt turns out Sophie is dead. The others argue about what to do about it. Audrey thinks they should tell someone. Andy disagrees. But Andy thinks they should cover it up and tells them the tale of Scott Vincent who was a classmate who summoned a demon that ate two classmates and he gets expelled. (Now here I’m thinking this would have been the PERFECT place to tie this to the original series or show and mention how some other students accidentally summoned the Beast or how Alice trie...
