Here we go again for the last time! The terrifying stories contained within this tasty little tome certainly do not fit within the limits of what we could consider the normal set of courses. In the appetizer portion, Bite-Sized Tales of Terror, we set the table with micro and flash fiction stories. We established that these were the hors-d’oeuvres of the literary world. It Came From the Snack Bar! expanded the menu by discarding the claustrophobic word count limit and allowed our talented authors to have their way with the kitchen. While the stories remained relatively short, I wouldn’t consider any of them sweet. Each tale packs its own unique, flavorful punch. Some stories will send a chill up your spine. Others may leave you questioning the fundamental elements of reality. A few may even leave you smiling. Either way, these stories will stay in your mind long after you read them - like the House Special from Luigi’s.
This anthology, much like It From the Snack Bar!, was born from the success of Bite-Sized Tales of Terror. Many authors from the previous two anthologies have returned to the kitchen and once again cooked up some dark delicacies to disturb the heart, soul, and mind. Or at minimum give you a bit of indigestion. To keep things new and fresh, there’s some new blood in the boiling pot. This galley encompasses the best authors from Reddit’s premier horror flash fiction community, /r/ShortScaryStories. These authors have proven incredibly capable of crafting the most terrifying fiction on the internet. Many are contest winners whose talent and skill have been confirmed by the community at large. Others have had their work narrated on Parsec Award-winning podcasts, have had their work featured on various YouTube channels reaching hundreds of thousands of views, and have had their work adapted into short films. These aren’t your average run-of-the-mill indie authors; these are some talented folks who’ve donated their time, effort, and stories to this anthology. Without them, this last chapter of the trilogy wouldn’t have been possible.
As with the previous two anthologies, all revenue generated from the sale of digital and paperbacks books will be donated to Scares That Care!, an approved 501 charity which fights the REAL MONSTERS of childhood illness, burns, and breast cancer by helping families experiencing these extraordinary hardships cope with the financial burden. It’s a 100% volunteer charity; meaning all donations are given to those who are in need; no CEO salaries, no overheads. Donations will be made on a monthly basis for one year following the publication date of this collection. All information on the donations, sales numbers, and all other pertinent information will be available at /r/Human_Gravy
Like many hors-d’oeuvres and appetizers, Horror d’Oeuvres: Unjust Desserts contains a veritable cornucopia of offerings, so not all stories will be to taste. You can expect to read stories with a variety of settings, subject matters, and content. Please assume all stories are NSFW and may or may not contain offensive material. Read at your own discretion. Add salt if necessary.
