The Mind of Dylan

The Mind of Dylan

0/5 ( ratings)
The Mind of Dylan is a collection of poems I wrote over the span of two months while I was living in Alaska. It was my first time in Alaska and these were also my first poems. I moved to Alaska and took two notebooks with me because I knew I could get some good writing done. The majority of the time that I write has been journal writing. However, upon moving, reading a variety of Mary Oliver's books, reading the works of Dylan Thomas, Allen Ginsberg, Sylvia Plath and Robert Lowell I became hooked. I actually couldn't stop writing in poetry. Mixed in with the very punny and poetic word play of the touring industry job that I am working at for the summer, I was even stuck speaking poetically for a while. Anyways, I filled up one notebook almost entirely full of just poems. Poems that were also in a sense my journal. I may have wrote up to 300 poems in that notebook. I then chopped them down and revised until we are left with what we have now, as The Mind of Dylan. The poems that remain are poems that I am proud of and hope that you enjoy reading them. The poems themselves have a bunch to do with the good of the world, the bad of the world, the treachery of our current incarnation and plenty more. The use of mindfulness practices and hiking in the great Alaskan Wilderness were the inspiration for these poems.
